In the time when Bollywood movies are rocking the whole world, it is the time to carry forward the rich legacy and re-establish the dominance over the other film domains of the world. Frankly speaking, the transformation seen by the Indian film industry in the last 10 years has been nothing short of phenomenal. We have given films that not only have won the hearts of our domestic audience, but have drew praise even from global audience. Toronto Film Festival, Bafta, Golden Globe, every where we have made our presence felt. This is the main reason why film directors as well as the producers from the India are now looking out for the scripts that have a universal appeal to them. Films like 'Taare Zameen Par', 'Lage Raho Munnabhai', 'Black' are remarkable illustrations of this fulminating transformation, which is expected to continue in the future. However, one last frontier ie 'The Oscars' is still to be conquered.
'Oscars' have been the ultimate stage for the Indian filmmakers. Every person whether film-maker, actor or anyone associated with Bollywood movies, harbours a dream to see himself walking the red carpet and receiving the black trophy for excellence in the field of films. Witnessing the surge in the number of fans, Indian film making fraternity is now making conscious efforts to convince the audience by the means of their talent, which is why the standard of film making in the past few years has reached excitingly different levels. They are even putting in the efforts to get them dubbed in the local language and tap the foreign markets too. These dubbed movie efforts are a welcome gesture from the Indian film fraternity side, made with a conscious effort to popularise them beyond the borders.
Even the war movies like 'Lakshya' and 'LOC Kargil' too in their times did a fantastic business in the overseas market rubbishing the claims that Indian war films are not up to the mark. The concept of 'war movie' though can be referred to as the most difficult genre to be depicted on the silver screen, but with the introduction of young blood into the commercial stream of cinema, the parameters have been reset. Thus, obviously we can expect some more war movies in the future.
As far as the recent future is considered, 'Rab ne bana di jodi' and 'Ghajini' are lined up ahead for the December, 2008 release. Both these films starring Shahrukh Khan & Aamir Khan respectively, are being touted as the biggest awaited releases of this year.
