My Loveliest Possession

I could still remember that beautiful day when for the first time my husband bought me something. Something which I never expected him to do, way beyond my expectations and I guess way beyond everybody’s expectation in my family as well. This gorgeous gift from him is something I will cherish throughout my life.


It was mid December and I was with my husband at our sweet little home. Just me and my husband were doing our normal daily routine courses. Everyone is well aware of Delhi’s chilling winter, though I wasn’t in a mood to cook still I started to prepare his favourite dish only to find that there wasn’t any salt left. Well, that weekend I learned few things. I learned how to cook my husband’s favourite dish without salt and I also learned that he loves me way beyond my expectation. After our day’s long work, both of us were very tired. I was watching television and he was doing the dishes. Lucky me, you see.


Only the day before he said that I am not doing anything creative and I could realise it myself also. It’s been ages I did something creative, something that could have reignited the fire dowsing inside me. The only things I’ve “made” this week are tea and soup.


Today, it was a little different. He was acting calm, quiet and poised in an articulated manner. Though little pernickety, I still choose to remain quiet. He then turned up with something on his hand. A box, a plain simple velvet box embossed with my name. Initially, I didn’t pay any attention to it but then it caught my eyes. It was a jewellery box carrying a small beautiful diamond earring and a nose pin. He quietly placed that wonder box on my lap. With tear filled eyes, I opened that box and trust me nothing can delight a women more than diamonds.


But for me it was more special because it came from him and was especially designed for me. Did I forget to tell you guys that I myself am a jewellery designer? It’s been more than 5 years now but I still couldn’t forget those mesmerising moments when he gifted me that diamond earring and nose pin as a token of his love.
